Senior Keys
|
Are you a senior citizen that... ... is less comfortable behind the wheel? ... finds yourself driving less frequently or
has stopped altogether? ... has a seldom-used vehicle in your driveway
that is just costing you money? Are you a family member who… ... is concerned about the safety of your
senior while driving? ... adjusts your schedule to drive your senior
to most appointments and activities? Each
year, more than one million Americans aged 70 and over stop driving and
become dependent on others to get where they need to go. Or they simply
don’t go. And the numbers are growing rapidly. People
can remain active and independent well into their eighties, which may
surpass their decision to stop driving by many years. That's too long
to depend on favors from friends and family. Senior Keys, a service of Community Transportation
Network, Inc. (CTN) is an alternative to driving that addresses this
problem. Seniors enrolled in Senior Keys donate
their unused cars to CTN. The value of the donated vehicle is used to
start an account to pay for rides. The affordable cost for each ride is
deducted from the account. Participants can then pay into the account
when needed to maintain a sufficient balance to pay for trips. Monthly
statements will be provided. Passenger
automobiles are driven by CTN volunteers to provide trips to seniors.
Service is available Monday through Saturday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Participants simply call in the trip request. CTN will schedule the
vehicle and driver and will call the rider to confirm the arrangements.
